What's this about?

Lately, it seems like many of the movies/shows are just a rehash or reboot of things that have already been done. And so I started to dive into the past. It's been fun, but I find myself losing track of which ones I’ve seen and whether or not I enjoyed them. Sometimes the titles themselves just don't tell me enough to remember.

I wouldn’t have voluntarily watched a lot of these movies when I was younger. It’s strange how interests change. That goes for what I read, too. I have another blog that explores books. I’m mostly reading older fiction and memoirs, and some of the books have led me to movies/shows and vice versa. In those cases, I may post the book review over here as well.

There will be spoilers, which is different than my book reviews. That’s mostly because I want to have enough information to help me remember what I’ve seen. I’m getting older. The brain doesn’t cooperate like it used to. What can I say? The gray hairs are catching up with me!

Space Monster Wangmagwi - 1967

This movie sounded super interesting when we read the description on Tubi. Little did we know this movie was probably "lost" for a reason.

It's some woman's wedding day (no, I'm not looking up anyone's name), but her ceremony is ruined by a kaiju. Her soon-to-be husband is part of the Air Force and was called in to fight the monster. Later, the monster is terrorizing Korea.

I don't even know what to say about this movie. It was awful and not in a good way. The monster looked terrible, and the aliens were just guys with trash cans on their heads. The main space ship looked like a cigar while the little one looked like you could put a Quarter Pounder in it.

The real problem with this movie is the characters. You have the whiny bride who ends up getting captured, the mother with boneless legs (she's always falling down), the "comedy" duo who are anything but funny, and the strange orphan who pees in ear canals. That's not even including the random folks, like the newspaper pooper who thinks he's crapped out a baby or the jeweler who is trampled while trying to escape.

This movie was way too long for what it was, and I couldn't wait for it to end. They even walked along the beach for a good minute before The End popped up. Not enough of the main characters died for my liking, but I did appreciate the miraculous stunt of the ejected pilot swinging by to rescue two people from the monster's hand as he floated to the ground.
