What's this about?

Lately, it seems like many of the movies/shows are just a rehash or reboot of things that have already been done. And so I started to dive into the past. It's been fun, but I find myself losing track of which ones I’ve seen and whether or not I enjoyed them. Sometimes the titles themselves just don't tell me enough to remember.

I wouldn’t have voluntarily watched a lot of these movies when I was younger. It’s strange how interests change. That goes for what I read, too. I have another blog that explores books. I’m mostly reading older fiction and memoirs, and some of the books have led me to movies/shows and vice versa. In those cases, I may post the book review over here as well.

There will be spoilers, which is different than my book reviews. That’s mostly because I want to have enough information to help me remember what I’ve seen. I’m getting older. The brain doesn’t cooperate like it used to. What can I say? The gray hairs are catching up with me!

Captain America (serial) - 1944

This Captain America probably isn’t going to fit into what you’re thinking. My daughter and I nicknamed him “Muffin Top Captain America.” He’s not exactly fit, he’s got a strange outfit (especially his cowl), and he murders a lot of people. And I mean a lot. We weren’t prepared for that.

One of my favorite things in these serials are the fight scenes. I don’t think they choreograph them, it’s just some guys throwing things and jumping at each other. It’s epic, and I love it.

The Scarab’s identity isn’t a mystery, and in the beginning, he’s trying to get his hands on a leading scientist’s vibrator. Yeah, some of the language doesn’t age well. Hearing an old man say, “How did you find out about my vibrator?” is a little uncomfortable.

And why is Captain America the District Attorney? That’s such a random thing. Cause when I think of investigating, I think the District Attorney! And why is he always sending his secretary off to get herself into trouble? Anyway, I love these, and they put me in a good mood. Good Watch!
